Sugar 

Water

Simple syrup is used in creating cocktails and is typically a 1:1 ratio of sugar and water. 

Some recipes may require a 2:1 sugar to water ratio or 1:2 sugar to water ratio. 

 Add sugar in the correct ratio to the water. 

Heat the water enough for the sugar to dissolve completely.

 You may bring it boiling but it's unnecessary to Cool before storing in a sealed container. 

Refrigerate until ready to use. It will keep for many months if your container was good and clean.
