Butterscotch Liqueur, Also known as ButterShots Submitted by: Joanna | Date Added: 21 May 2015

Ingredients

Also known as ButterShots, this liqueur is delicious by itself, but some prefer it in tea, coffee or hot chocolate.

Add: 1 cup water

1 cup sugar

1 1/2 cups 100-proof vodka

1 1/2 teaspoons All Star Extracts brand Butterscotch Extract
10 drops yellow food coloring (optional)

Cooking Instructions

Combine sugar and water in medium heavy saucepan over medium high heat.
Bring to a boil, stirring constantly.
Lower heat and simmer 5 minutes.

Remove from heat and cool thoroughly.

Stir in Butterscotch extract and vodka.

Pour into a clean glass bottle with tight fitting lid and store in a cool, dry place.

Makes: About 3 cups. Can be served immediately, but the alcohol and sugar will combine and get smoother over the next 2 - 3 weeks or so.

Some people like their liqueurs a little less sweet.

To compensate for the reduction in sugar, glycerine is added to give the liqueur the smoothness expected. Glycerine is a natural sugar that won’t affect the taste of your liqueur.

See our recipe for ButterShots Light.
